blog post 13

hey guys, so I don't really know what to tell you besides the fact that its coming to the end of our blogs and although I haven't done a whole bunch with this, I have done a good amount of the work and I can tell you that during this process I have found it extremely hard to be able to do this. while I have tried to crochet I came across the fact that it hurts my wrists to much to be able to sit down for long periods of time and just crochet. Before when I was younger and I would crochet it would cause me pain to where I wouldn't be able to do much with my wrists. I have found that no matter how long of a break I take I can never not be in pain after I crochet. the most time I can ever take to sit down and crochet is just half an hour, any longer and I wont be able to do anything else like take a shower or do my laundry or homework, and honestly it takes well over an hour to do just one little square.

we have our TED style talks due in a couple of weeks and really how do I make what I have done into a whole thing about how this can better yourself, or a life lesson. the only thing I've learned from this is if I continue I could seriously cause a bad injury in my wrists, and that if I keep pushing myself to do something that I may enjoy but it turns out to make me in pain why continue? I think the only thing that comes out of this would possibly be try not to do something that could harm you, know your limits. if I had known this would do this to my wrists I would have chosen something else to do.

blog post 12

sooo this one as you can see didn't really turn out so great, I don't know why but I have such a difficult time making a square. like with the other ones it started in the middle and went outwards. this as you can tell started from the very bottom and I had to work my way up and at the ends it kind of started to curve? but this one is considered the "star stitch" and man was this one not easy to do. with how far I did get it took me well over an hour just to get there and I like how the middle areas look, it does look pretty nice and once I get more practice with the edges I should be able to make one of these and it should look pretty good. so next week hopefully I have 3 more of these to post, or upload pictures of. honestly at the end of the night, sitting down in front of my TV having the rest of my homework done and being able to pull up the videos on the TV and watching how they do these things, its relaxing you know? except when your family needs something and decides to talk to you when you are just trying to listen so you know which stitches to use and then having to go back in the video and trying to listen for the part again. In this one I used a half double crochet stitch, a single stitch and a stitch I for some reason don't really remember what it is called but when I remember I will update this post on what it is called. until next time guys!

blog post 11

so this is the second one that I created, this is also considered a "granny square" and honestly this one was a little bit more difficult to do. I was watching a video and the way they explained it was easy but hard at the same time. again I do wish I had used a different kind of yarn or at least a different color to make it easier and I would have probably had a more easier time creating this. this one I think took me around an hour? I had to back up the video I used so many times so that I could understand exactly what they were doing. again this kind of thing only used 2 kinds of stitches again, a single stitch and a double crochet stitch which yes did end up being so easy to do. this one was kind of cool learning how to make, like I was laughing because of the mess ups I made during the process but at the end I think I did a pretty good job. so the  next picture that I will be uploading, be ware that it did not go so well and I will more then likely be trying to create it again, but once I had different yarn completely.

blog post 10

so earlier this week I got around to taking a picture of something I made a little while ago. honestly this looks pretty decent for the very first one that I made. it took me about half an hour to create since it was pretty easy to make and while I was crocheting this I hurt my wrist (a previous injury from crocheting and moving my wrist to quickly) and it hurt for a couple of days so I was limited to what I could do. this is considered a "granny square", there really only about two kinds of stitches involved to create this. first one was a simple single stitch and the second one was a double crocheted stitch that may look difficult but once you do a couple of them it is super easy to do. what I think I could have done better was maybe use a solid yarn instead of one that goes from one color to another, if I did use a solid color, maybe like a light pink it would have been a bit easier to see the stitches that I used while going along. so this was my first one and I did use a YouTube tutorial but I cant find it nor do I remember which one I used to help me do this one so I am just going to say, if you want to re create this just look up granny squares on YouTube and you are 100% going to find a video that you will be able to use to crochet this. just a little fyi my next post will be the next "granny square" that I created. so see you in the next post!

blog post 9

hey everyone, so over the spring break I had huge plans to buckle down and crochet during the break. I had every day planned out to the T, and then I got a stomach virus. I was in so much pain I couldn't even eat for two days and couldn't get out of bed until Sunday evening it was completely horrible. So all my plans for everything I was going to crochet was ruined because I wasn't able to even move my hands very much besides grab my Gatorade.

Luckily I am almost better and can now follow through with my plans on what I am going to be crocheting. I was able to take a picture of what I already created but couldn't look at my screen long enough to be able to post it, since really anything made me sick to my stomach. I am really hoping that I can finish my plans by the end of next week and have at least 3? pictures uploaded. honestly this is a bit more then I think I am capable of doing like I thought that since I know how crochet that this would not be very hard to do and finish in a couple of week, and now here I am 6 week away from the due date and have little to nothing finished in the first place. hopefully I finish up in time, until next time, bye guys!

blog post 8

hey guys! so I have made a good amount of progress and during the break I'm going to be uploading images of everything that I have done, the name of all the stuff and such. I wish I had more time to do this project I really do, I am so swamped with homework lately that crocheting these things are becoming more and more difficult but its to late in the game to change my mind on my project now, plus what would I even do anyways? Any how, I have been drowning in homework to keep my grades up and I do hope that during the spring break I can make maybe 2 more? I think that will be my goal is to make two more and finish up the one I am working on currently and then make one big post with all the images and information, I was thinking maybe when I do upload the pictures that I should also do how long it takes me to create each one so that other people can get a good estimate of how long it would take them, a beginner or intermediate, if they decided to re create what I tried to re create.

During this process I have realized that this is a good amount more difficult then I thought it would be, the amount of concentration you need to have to remember which stitch to do next or how many links you need to make to continue the next section. I thought it would be way more easier since I had a good amount of experience with crocheting already but making all this? yeah no I am pretty much a beginner, good thing that I do understand a lot of the stitch names and remember how to do them. When I first learned how to crochet I started off by looking up all the stitches and information and that was a long time ago so you would have assumed that I would have forgotten but now coming back to it I do remember so much. I may have bit off more then I could chew with this project that I chose.
until next time guys.

blog post 6

hey guys! so I think what I am going to do is I wont be posting any pictures of what I have done so far and at the very end I will  just do one big post that has all the pictures of everything I have done so it will be a kind of like ill post no problem during this and tell you about everything that has been done my struggles everything. Then later on I will make a post including pictures and a description on everything like there names and how long it took me to take to make them how difficult they were and just all the hardship I went through to create the squares.

so this time what I am going to tell you is that I have found all the YouTube videos that I will be using during this, I watched a good amount of videos looking out on whether or not I can understand what they are saying, whether or not they go a speed that I can understand and follow what they use, since I have only one crochet hook I need to make sure that the video has the same mm of a crochet hook so that mine will turn out very close to what they are doing. Also what I looked for is if the video went into enough detail on how to do the stitches, if the video is a good enough quality so that I am able to see what they are doing and it isn't completely blurry since, believe it or not, there are a good amount of videos that I tried watching for a reference on what I am going to be making that you just are not able to see everything due to it being so blurry. (they need such a higher quality camera to record with if they are going to be a tutorial on YouTube) until next time guys :)

blog post 5

So today is another day, I honestly haven't accomplished anything else. I have been so busy trying to catch up with my other classes that I haven't made any of the other squares, but since we have a 4 day weekend I will have so much time to catch up on my creating more squares. I also tried to upload a picture to my last post but for since my blog is attached to my Google drive on my phone I'm going to have to try and transfer the picture over to my phone so that I can upload it maybe next week.

honestly I wish I would have done something that would not require so much time, like I maybe trying to cook food and record my experience but instead I chose crochet which hurts my wrists. is it to late to change my choice on what im doing? oh well, I guess I can power through this and try and continue to create more stuff. I wish I was more interested in this at this time in my life but I with so much going on by the time I get home I am so tired that once I lay down I am ready for bed. Well this is my update for this week, hopefully this time next week I will have so much more content to post since I will have time to work over the course of four days, until next time.

blog post 4

hey guys, so I did manage to crochet some and I have fully completed one and although I do not have a photo to upload right now I can later tonight and that is what I plan to do. so when I looked up the granny stitch I did find some different versions of it and I found one that is pretty interesting so I did decide to crochet that one. it took me only about an hour to crochet it and it wasn't to difficult I had a good amount of fun creating it and if I could create more like that one I will have no problem getting them done.

I honestly am slacking in my project a little bit because I have been swamped in math homework and class work, but this week I do have some free time so I will have way more time to create more squares and then upload about them. So let me tell you about what I have created so far. so far with the square that I crocheted last week I made it with multi colored yarn, and I plan on using that as well as black for the rest, but with this it is really cute and the way the colors blend in with one another it kind of looks like it was supposed to be used for the exact reason I used it for, I really am hoping at the end of this that I will have enough squares to put together to make something even greater, but one can only hope.

elevator pitch!

blog post 3

hey guys its another week of my blog and I've done research and found some things I think I can make but so far I haven't been able to. I have attempted to create one called the granny stitch, I will link you to a video on YouTube that I tried to follow but it ended up being a bit to fast for me to keep up with so I am going to have to try again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npIsh-o9AM0
here is a picture of what it is supposed to look like. I got this picture at https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5soDIGjvgPVaJEEtVV3-5RkNdCh465YVIpCgkakCmBRFsVaPlKDuKBl71-XRmEzOeRM3Ft7hrUSMlr0yrNPxCZOHuQQh6BQ8gBmO0pbsCND-AeqcWfFDCZrEWiKwyiBbv2v7UL-dHT0pq/s1600/Granny+manta++(10).JPG
When I tried to create this stitch for some reason I couldn't get my hand on it and I messed up on the third row and then un-did it all to see if I can find a new video that might go a slower pace and make it easier to follow.

I would have taken a picture of what I did but I know it was so bad that it wouldn't have been worth it to post it or show you guys. I do have some other stitches that I am going to attempt later on and every week I should have an update on what I have done and hopefully I managed to create the granny stitch by next week and if I can, I will be uploading a picture later this week actually on my progress.

The next crochet stitch and pattern that I will be trying to accomplish would be "crochet in the round". It looks kind of complicated and I am not fully sure I am capable of doing it but I sure will be trying my hardest to. I am aware though that this one is not a square but a circle but I do not think it will matter later on. well that is all for this week, talk to you guys later!

proposal!

Everyday Is A Good Day To Crochet

Help! I'm crocheting and I cant get up! so some background on my topic would be the reason why I chose this was because earlier in my life my mom started to crochet and I was so interested in it because she made this HUGE blanket for my dad and I was like amazed, like wow mom! you are so cool! WOW! AMAZING! and so when she finished this blanket which took her a good half a year to finish I asked her could you teach me how to crochet. She said yes! while I was being taught she told me about how my grandma crochet and how all the ponchos I had worn when I was younger she was the one who had made them, and that was just like holy moly why can everyone else in my family crochet but I didn't know how to? so I got taught and ive only progressed from that point, picking it up and stopping it every once in awhile. so some questions that I will hopefully answer during this would be, can I do this? how many stitches am I capable of learning in this? will I be able to keep up with learning a different stitch or pattern every week? hopefully I can!

In order to follow through with this I will need to do research on how to do a stitch or how to do the pattern, watch videos learn when to cross over, which link I need to go through. So I already know how to start everything off, how to do a single crochet, and how important it is so go through the correct one when you are crocheting. So I will need to do more research on which stitch I will be doing each week, which level of difficulty it is and then I will be progressing on the stitching. What I will need to know is mostly just the difficulties of each stitch and how difficult it will be to do them and how long it will take me to do just one 8x8 square.

Where I will be finding all my information will be on YouTube and Google because I will be able to find online all the patterns or stitches and how difficult they are then go onto YouTube and then look them all up since I learn best with seeing a video and not reading on how to do something. I wont really be able to interview anybody except my mom since she is the only one I know that can crochet and since she made that big huge blanket when I was younger she knows the nooks and crannies of crocheting.

The outcome of my research will be having all of the stitches and patterns possibly printed out and put into a binder so that if someone looks, they can see them from easy to difficult and will be able to find every single site that I went on, all the videos I watched in order to learn how to do what they are looking at. including all the 8x8 squares that I will be able to show everyone that I could also put into the book so they can see an example of what I made that follows through with everything. My product will be a bunch of stitches and patterns possibly put together to create one big blanket that I could possibly gift to someone or donate depends on how great this turns out.

This topic is viable because it asked us what we do outside of school that is school related and honestly I do not know of any school that provides you with a course on crocheting and I do this sometimes on my free time and I took my own time at home to learn how to crochet in the first place, also it was in the suggested box on things people have done so why not start on something that I know and just further my knowledge on it making it a bigger learning experience.

blog post 2

I started to crochet and then I consulted with my teacher on ideas which means that I now have to start over from what I had originally planned to do and we came up with each week I can come up with a different stitch and pattern to do on an 8x8 square which I will hopefully be stitching together at the end. So when I did look up stitch patterns Sunday on YouTube, because there are so many tutorials on that thing, I found one that is just one step more difficult then a single stich and that is a double stich which is actually just one extra step more. I could still use some volunteers but if I cant find anyone that is fine, I will still be presenting everything that I have created in this process. hopefully later this week or next week I will have an update picture of some 8x8 stitch and patterns, also labeled so you know which one is which, so that you can see how far I am in the process :)

blog post 1

hey guys!

I am starting my blog off by saying during my blog process I will be posting updates that will sometimes have links to instructions on how to crochet. During this process I will be teaching myself and maybe a few others on new patterns or stitches that you and I can use to create new things. I would enjoy a couple of volunteers that would be willing to try and learn how to crochet in this process. (anything that is made will be donated to someone that can use it) I will be making a new post every week updating everyone on the process of how my research on new stitches or patterns is going. I will be attempting to make some type of clothing (other then gloves) and hopefully it turns out well! hopefully you enjoy the content that I post and you are going to follow along with me through this journey of challenges! :)
